iEARN-Qatar Facilitator role and responsibilities
The Facilitators role is to support and guide teachers working on online iEARN collaborative projects throughout all the phases of the projects. iEARN projects are taking place every semester for a duration of 10 to 14 weeks. A Facilitator will be supporting a group of 4 to 8 teachers working on an iEARN project that is related to his/ her field of teaching. Facilitators are supported and advised on their work and tasks by the ROTA iEARN Coordinators and iEARN-Qatar Trainers.
1) The main functions and tasks of a Facilitator during a project are:
- On a weekly basis:
- Post a newsletter listing the project tasks that teachers have to complete.
- Track and report on the teachers' progress and work on both the Knowledge Network and the iEARN.org web portal forums.
- Meet online with the other Facilitators and the ROTA iEARN coordinator to receive feedback and discuss and solve issues.
- On a ongoing basis:
- Provide feedback to teachers on their work.
- Advise and support each teacher in the group on both educational and technical questions and issues.
2) Prerequisites to become a Facilitator
A teacher who is willing to become a facilitator should:
- Have done at least one iEARN project, preferably identical to the project he/she will be facilitating.
- Have attended the Facilitators Training.
- Be confident in using the ROTA Knowledge Network and iEARN.org web portals.
- Have a good understanding and practice of project based learning
- Be able to commit an average of 4 to 5 hours per week during the full duration of the project (10 to 14 weeks).
